You may import inbound caller ID (CNAM), outbound caller ID (LIDB), and call forwarding in bulk using the CSV template. This way, you can update up to 5,000 line features at a time quickly and easily!

Before we begin, let’s review their purpose:

  • CNAM allows end users to have the ability to view inbound caller ID on their phone.
  • LIDB allows you to manage the outbound Caller ID display.
  • Call forwarding allows you to redirect incoming calls to an alternate phone number.

To bulk import CNAM, LIDB, or call forwarding, please have the list of the phone numbers you'd like to edit ready and then complete the following steps:

  1. Log into the Bandwidth Dashboard.
  2. In the top navigation bar, click Numbers and then select Upload Line Features.
  3. On the Upload Line Features page, click download a template .csv file. This will download the CSV file into your web browser.
  4. Click the file to open it.
    • Note: If you don't see the file, check the Downloads section in your web browser or the Downloads folder on your computer.

We know this template may look a bit overwhelming at first, but it’s actually quite simple!

Notice there are two headers: the top row is the line feature to update, such as LIDB for Outbound Caller ID, while the second row specifies the field, such as Service Type. Please make sure to erase all example information in rows 3-5 before entering your data.

Inbound caller ID

Column A Starting in cell A3, type the phone number (TN) in a 10-digit format, without spaces, parentheses, or dashes.
Column B

Indicate CNAM Display:

  • Type On to enable CNAM for inbound calls
  • Type Off to disable CNAM.

Outbound caller ID

Column A Starting in cell A3, type the phone number (TN) in a 10-digit format, without spaces, parentheses, or dashes.
Column L

Type the actual name that you want displayed:

  • Note: There’s a limit of 15 characters, including spaces and punctuation.
Column M

Indicate the service type:

  • Type Business for a business customer.
  • Type Residential for a residential customer.
Column N

Select the caller ID presentation type:

  • Type Public to allow the terminating carrier to query for the caller ID and display the name.
  • Type Private to request the terminating carrier to accept a privacy tag and display Private or Unknown.

Call forwarding

Column A Starting in cell A3, type the phone number (TN) in a 10-digit format, without spaces, parentheses, or dashes.
Column D

Enter the TN that you'd like inbound calls to be forwarded to:

  • To set call forwarding, type the TN in a 10-digit format, without spaces, parentheses, or dashes.
  • To remove call forwarding, type systemdefault.
  1. Once complete, save the spreadsheet as a CSV file and navigate back to the Upload Line Features page in the Bandwidth Dashboard.
  2. Drop the file into Choose a .csv file to import box or click Browse to search for it on your computer.
  3. Once you upload the file, click Import to submit your order. Your upload results will be displayed at the bottom of the page.
