Users may import Telephone Number Line Features in bulk using a .CSV spreadsheet.  This demo will focus on how to set call forwarding, outbound caller ID, and inbound caller ID in bulk. This makes importing up to 5,000 line features at a time quick and easy!

Before we begin, let’s review:

  • CNAM: Also known as Inbound Caller ID.  This feature allows end users to have the ability to view inbound caller ID on their phone.
  • LIDB: Also known as Outbound Caller ID.  This allows you to manage the outbound Caller ID display.
  • Call Forwarding: This allows you to redirect incoming calls to an alternate phone number.

Be sure to have a list of the telephone numbers you want to edit on hand.

When you’re ready, hover over 'Numbers' and click 'Import Line Features'.
From the ‘Import Line Features’ page, Click ‘Download a template .csv file’ to download the template.
Click to open the .csv file in Excel.

We know the file can look a bit overwhelming at first, but don’t worry, it’s actually quite simple.

Notice there are two headers in the Excel file. The top row is the Line Feature to update, such as Outbound Caller ID, while the second row specifies the field that you can update.

Outbound Caller ID:

Column A: TN, start with cell A3.  Type the telephone number in 10-digit format, without spaces, parentheses or dashes.
Column G Type the actual name to be displayed.  Remember, there’s a limit of 15 characters which includes spaces and punctuation.
Column H Indicate the Service type, 'Business' or 'Residential'.
Column I Type 'Allowed' or 'Blocked'

Inbound Caller ID:

Column A: TN, start with cell A3.  Type the telephone number in 10-digit format, without spaces, parentheses or dashes.
Column B: Type ‘On’ in this field to enable CNAM for inbound calls or type ‘Off’ to disable inbound caller ID.

Call Forwarding:

Column A: TN, start with cell A3.  Type the telephone number in 10-digit format, without spaces, parentheses or dashes.
Column D: To set: Type the number to which you'd like for inbound calls to be forwarded.  The telephone number must be entered in 10-digit format, no parentheses, dashes, or spaces.
Column D: To remove: type 'systemdefault'.

For a full explanation of all the columns, see the Line Feature Requirements for Bulk Features Upload page.

Once complete, save the spreadsheet as a CSV file and navigate to the Bandwidth Dashboard. Hover over Numbers and click Import Line Features.
Click "Choose File" and browse to your completed .CSV file.
Click “Upload Line Options” to submit your order. Your upload results will be displayed on the next page.
