To begin utilizing your Bandwidth Dashboard numbers for Messaging APIs, you will first need to enable your Locations for this service. Bandwidth HTTP Messaging enables you to leverage the Bandwidth Dashboard’s rich number management functions and add-on the ability to send and receive SMS and MMS over our Messaging APIs.
|From the top Navigation menu, hover over 'Account' > 'Configuration' > and click 'Locations'|
|Click ‘edit >>’ by the Location you wish to enable.|
|From this page, scroll down to the 'SMS settings' section.|
|Mark the ‘SMS enabled’ checkbox.|
|Set the 'SMS Protocol' to 'HTTP'|
|Enable 'Toll Free' messaging and 'Short Codes' by marking their corresponding checkboxes.|
|Zone 1 will be enabled by default. To enable the numbers on this Location for International SMS, mark the checkboxes to enable international zones.|
|Note: These options will be disabled if your account is not contracted for these messaging features. If you'd like to add these features to your suite of messaging products, feel free to reach out to your Sales representative!|
|Proxy Peer ID will default to '501725,' this field should not be changed.|
|To enable the Location for 'MMS,' mark the ‘MMS enabled' checkbox.|
|Set your 'MMS Protocol' to 'HTTP'|
|The Proxy Peer ID will remain '501725'|
You will see a quick warning to notify you that the configuration changes will cause a brief interruption of messaging service. Click ‘Submit’ to proceed.
The Location is now enabled for HTTP Messaging. Be sure to rinse and repeat these steps to enable each Location in the Bandwidth Dashboard that contains numbers that will utilize HTTP Messaging.
Just wait- to utilize your HTTP Messaging services, you will now need to import your numbers into your Bandwidth Application Platform Account.
