Partial Port / Migration Indicator - Error Code E24

Updated

You may see this error displayed as the error code of E24 and/or with the 'Partial Port' or 'MI-Migration Indicator'.

What does this mean?

Partial port indicates the End User has several numbers on their account and is requesting to only port a portion of those numbers.

Migration Indicator is the setting on your port request that tells us if you're requesting a full port, or a partial port.

Both of these settings indicate either an incorrect setting with the type of request (e.g., you selected a partial port, but it's actually a full port - or - you're requesting a full port, but your customer is leaving numbers behind, thus it should be a partial port).

How do I resolve it?

  • If you selected 'Partial Port' but aren't leaving numbers behind with the current carrier, the indicator needs to be changed to 'Full Port'.
  • If you selected 'Full Port' but are leaving numbers behind with the current carrier, the indicator needs to be changed to 'Partial Port'.
  • If your customer IS leaving numbers behind with the current carrier, but they are porting the BTN (Billing Telephone Number ) - the main number on the account - they will need to provide a NEW BTN to keep the account in tact with the carrier.  The new BTN needs to be a number that already exists on that same account.

Important Information:

Some carriers will require that when there is a partial port, the customer detail a list of the numbers being ported and the numbers being left behind.  Generally, Bandwidth can tell the carrier "Port only these 5 numbers, and leave the rest behind with a new BTN of xxx.xxx.xxxx", but some carriers will require you to identify every single number (Full Disposition).  Just keep this in mind.  Our team will be happy to pull a CSR for you to help identify the numbers on the account, if needed.
