How to Set a Custom Activation Time on a Port In order

Chase Greiser

In the Bandwidth Dashboard, you are able to manually activate a Port In order and choose a custom own activation time? Customer activation is a useful tool that allows you to control the activation time on the day of FOC, which is the date the losing carrier releases the numbers.

Please note that this option must be selected prior to submitting your port-in order.  Once the port is created you cannot go back and select 'Customer Activation'.

Perform the following steps on a Port-In order to utilize this feature:

When creating your order, mark the ‘Customer Activation’ checkbox ‘Yes’ and select your ‘Desired Activation Date’. We recommend choosing a date 3 to 5 business days from your submission date.
Select your Desired Activation time.
You may choose a time as early as 5:00 a.m. or as late as 10 p.m. EST.

Note: Some hours are shaded in orange.  These times are considered outside of our normal business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, and will not have the active support of Bandwidth porting personnel.

This feature also allows you the freedom to manually activate the port on the day of FOC.  If you do not elect to manually activate, then the port will auto-activate at that time selected.

To activate the order on the day of FOC.

Log into the Bandwidth Dashboard.
Use the ‘Search for an order’ tool to locate your Order by selecting ‘Port’ as your Order Type.
In this demonstration, we’ll search via PON.

On the ‘Order Details Page,’ click the ‘Activate Numbers’ icon and confirm.

Once the numbers have completed the activation process, the order will show a completed status and the phone numbers in the port request will show 'inservice'.  We recommend you wait 10 to 15 minutes after the order completes to begin testing.
