How do I manage Locations in the Bandwidth App?

Locations help you organize your phone number inventory and configure your IP addresses for Voice and Messaging. When a number is added to a Location, it inherits the settings and properties of that Location. You must have at least one Sub-account to create a Location.

Creating a Location

  1. In the side navigation bar, click Account and select Locations.
  2. Click Add Location and complete the following fields:
    • Name: Provide a name for this Location.
    • Description: Enter a description for this Location (optional).
    • Sub-Account: Select a Sub-account that you want to associate with this Location.
    • Default Location: Turn this on if you'd like this to be your primary Location. This means when you order or port a number, this Location will appear first after you select your Sub-account.
  3. Click Create Location.

Once you create a Location, you can use it to configure your IP addresses for Voice and Messaging. When a number is added to a Location, it inherits the settings and properties of that Location.

Managing voice settings

To configure your Origination, Termination, and STIR/SHAKEN settings, click Voice.

Origination settings

  1. If you're contracted for the inbound CNAM per number feature, you can configure your CNAM display settings using the following options:
    • Under the CNAM display (Caller ID), choose whether you want the CNAM display to be ON or OFF by default for all numbers on this Location. You can change this later on any individual number from its Phone Number Details Page.
    • Use the Enforced for all numbers toggle to choose whether to apply your CNAM display setting to all phone numbers on this Location. If this is enabled, you won't be able to change the CNAM display setting at an individual number level.
  2. Under the Traffic distribution mechanism, select one of the following options:
    • None: Supports only one IP address.
    • Random: Supports up to 10 IPs. The system will signal to the IPs in a random order, similar to a round-robin.
    • Sequential failover: Supports up to 10 IPs. Traffic will failover on the IPs in the order they're entered.
  3. Under Failover URI, enter the SIP address in the sip:{address}@{host} format or a valid phone number in the +13332221111@PSTN format. For more information on using Automatic Failover, see our support article.
  4. Under Voice IP addresses / DNS hosts, enter the endpoint IP address or DNS host. To add a new line, click +Add IP Address.

Termination settings

If you're contracted for our Unified Communications (UC) product, use the Termination hosts field to enter your IPs for routing outbound calls. Otherwise, your whitelist is housed in a separate database at Bandwidth. Please open a ticket to whitelist additional IPs for Termination.
