If you use Hosted Messaging, you may occasionally encounter errors when importing telephone numbers (TNs). This article explains what these errors mean and how to resolve them.

Error  Meaning Resolution
Sip Peer doesn't have the SMS feature. The Location where you’ve attempted to host the number is not enabled for SMS. Enable messaging on the Location (HTTP/SMPP).
Messaging route of external toll-free TNs is not configured. The account’s external messaging settings are improperly configured. Open a ticket with the Bandwidth Support Team.
Messaging route of Bandwidth on-net TNs is not configured. The account’s on-net messaging settings are improperly configured. Open a ticket with the Bandwidth Support Team.
Service owner (either voice or messaging) cannot import messaging. The TN is already provisioned to account for voice or messaging.  Verify that the TN is provisioned to the correct Location. Where applicable, enable the number for messaging.
Numbers are in the blacklisted losing account. The voice owner doesn’t allow the messaging services to be split. The end user should work with their voice provider to obtain additional information. Alternatively, this can be resolved by fully porting the number to Bandwidth.
