What is MFA?

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is a multi-step process that requires users to provide an MFA factor, in addition to a login and password, to log in to their account. We strongly encourage all eligible users to enable it or configure Single Sign-On (SSO) to bolster their Bandwidth App account's security.

Note: MFA is only available for non-SSO users and is not supported on our Legacy Global Portal.

What is an MFA factor?

An MFA factor is a type of authentication required to log in to an account. Depending on which factor you choose when setting up your MFA, you may be asked to enter a code sent to your email or generated from your device.

Currently, Bandwidth supports the following MFA factors:

  • Email (required)
  • Okta Verify
  • Google Authenticator

If you lose access to your MFA factor(s), please open a ticket with the Bandwidth Support Team to reset or remove it.

How do I enable MFA in the Bandwidth App?

To enable MFA at the user level, complete the following steps:

  1. Log in to the Bandwidth App.
  2. In the side navigation bar, select Account and click Users.
  3. Select the user and click Manage MFA.
  4. Follow the prompts to set up your preferred verification methods.
