New default CNAM behavior when provisioning new locations

What's happening?

As part of Bandwidth’s effort to improve the existing customer experience, we are changing the default behavior of CNAM (Caller Name) when creating a new location for an integration in the Bandwidth App.

Previously, when enabling an integration on an account that had CNAM enabled, if you created a new Sub-Account (SIP Peer) for the integration without CNAM enabled and provisioned a new Location within that Sub-Account (SIP Peer), the default behavior would overwrite any settings under the SIP configuration tab to enable CNAM.

Effective November 19, 2024, you will be able to enable a new Location for an integration without CNAM enabled, even if the account has CNAM.

What do I need to know?

This change will only apply to any new locations created on or after November 19. Existing locations’ CNAM configurations will not be impacted.

What do I need to do?

When provisioning new locations, please keep in mind that the default provisioning behavior will no longer automatically enable CNAM. Should you wish to keep the same configuration for new locations, make sure you enable CNAM.

For more information on provisioning a new location in the Bandwidth App, check out this support guide. Until November 19, this guide will show the existing CNAM default behavior. On November 19 when the new behavior takes effect, the support guide will be updated accordingly.
