Viewing country restrictions and activation requirements on the Universal Platform

Restrictions and requirements vary by country, so we suggest reviewing both components before purchasing or porting phone numbers in a new country. Restrictions inform you of regulatory and service-related constraints, while activation requirements explain what is required to validate end users in a given country. All global customers agree to these dynamic guidelines when signing the global contract.

For more information about satisfying all service activation requirements for a number, see Service Activation on the Universal Platform. If you have any questions regarding specific restrictions or activation requirements, please open a ticket with the Bandwidth Compliance Ops Team.

In some cases, regulatory action outside of Bandwidth is required before your account can be enabled to purchase or port in a country. You can view these restrictions and requirements via API or by following these steps in the Bandwidth App:

  1. Log in to the Bandwidth App.
  2. In the side navigation bar, click Service Management and select Restrictions and Requirements.
  3. Select the country from the drop-down menu and scroll down to the Restrictions or Activation Requirements section. If you want to download restrictions or requirements for all countries, click Download All Countries.

Note: You can only view countries and number types that are available for purchase and/or port on your account. You’ll receive more specific activation requirements when creating a Requirements Package or retrieving them via API.
