Service Activation on the Universal Platform
Many countries have restrictions and activation requirements that typically involve some combination of a Requirements Package (RP), Voice Configuration Package (VCP), and Emergency Services (ES) registration. Our new Service Activation experience is intended to inform you of any relevant restrictions and activation requirements on a number, and help effortlessly activate each service.
When you first add a number to your account, the purchase, port, or hosted service order will guide you to provide all activation requirements so your number is active as soon as it hits your account. For a new number order, you will also have the option to purchase and activate services later.
Once a number is on your account, service activation and deactivation is handled via the Phone Number Details page. Let’s walk through an example of activating all services for an Italian Geographic number on an Enterprise account.
- Log in to the Bandwidth App.
- In the side navigation bar, select Numbers and click My Numbers.
- Find and click a number to navigate to its Phone Number Details page, then scroll down to the Service Activation section.
- Review the Status of each service to determine what’s needed to activate it:
- Missing requirements: One or more requirements needed to activate the service are missing. Please provide all the missing requirements listed in the column below.
- Not configured: The account is not configured for this service. Please contact your Account Manager for assistance.
- Not supported: The number type does not support this service in this country. Please visit our network coverage page for information about which numbers support your desired service or contact customer support.
- Unavailable: This service type cannot be activated on this number on this account. Please contact customer support.
- Use the Requirements Package drop-down menu to select the Requirements Package that accurately represents the end user of the phone number. Or create a new Requirements Package if a valid one does not already exist. Please note that the package must be in a Verified state to activate service.
- Use the Voice Configuration Package drop-down menu to select a Voice Configuration Package with your desired configurations.
- To attach an Emergency endpoint record, click Add endpoint record in the Emergency column and then create an emergency services request.
- Once all requirements are met, the service is Ready to Activate. Click Activate to activate each service.
- To change inbound voice configurations, you can swap the Voice Configuration Package with a new one at any time.
- In countries that require a valid end-user, all services must be inactive to assign a new Requirements Package.
- To deactivate an active service, click Deactivate.
