Global Number Hosting Orange Porting Agreement FAQs
As a French Operator and Bandwidth Number Hosting Customer, Orange requires that you enter into a direct porting agreement with them. This document has been produced to help guide you through this process.
Why do I need to enter into a direct porting agreement with Orange?
While all French operators retain the right to mandate a contract for porting request management, only Orange currently enforces this requirement. This contract specifically outlines the management and billing processes for porting-related operations.
We thought that IP Directions provided our porting service as our technical Operator?
While IP Directions provides access to necessary porting services, including the Operator Message Exchange service and the APNF porting database, a direct porting agreement is also required. Although these technical services offered by IP Directions facilitate and improve the porting process, they do not replace the need for a direct agreement.
We understood that the porting in/out of hosted numbers is fully managed by Bandwidth?
The Bandwidth portal allows you to submit number porting requests; Bandwidth will manage all aspects of your French number porting process, apart from the settlement of non-standard porting costs with Orange.
Will we need to complete any operational tasks directly with Orange?
Bandwidth will complete all operations and fully manage the process. It's not expected (as part of a standard port) that you'll have any direct operational communication with Orange.
Will we need to pay any fees directly to Orange?
The contract includes a fee structure. Bandwidth's standard porting fees cover all standard porting costs. Orange may invoice you directly for non-standard porting requirements (e.g., out-of-hours porting requests) and items not covered by Bandwidth's standard porting fees. Please refer to your Orange agreement for a complete list of fees.
Why might Orange ask for a security deposit?
To avoid financial risk, Orange may require a security deposit before entering into the agreement. This decision is based on their assessment of your company's financial situation and applies to all services and charges outlined in the agreement.
How do we enter into the agreement?
Complete/send the following documents to your Account Manager or the Onboarding Team:
- Orange Porting Subscription Request From
- France Portability Form
- KBIS or country equivalent document
Will we need anything else?
You'll also need a RIO ("Relevé d'Identité Opérateur", which translates to "operator identity statement" or "operator identity number/reference" in English). This code can be easily obtained from ARCEP.
Upon receipt of this information, Bandwidth will liaise with Orange, and the contract will be sent directly to your designated signatory.
