How do I import or remove phone numbers for Hosted Messaging?
FollowHosted Messaging is a service that allows you to enable numbers for messaging without having to port them into your account. It's designed to allow you to send and receive SMS and MMS messages using the Bandwidth platform while leaving the voice service in place with your current carrier or service provider.
After working with your Account Manager to add Hosted Messaging to your account, your Bandwidth Implementation Specialist will enable your account during onboarding.
To use this service, you'll first need to enable at least one location for messaging. Please take a look at our messaging setup guides for instructions:
How do I import phone numbers for Hosted Messaging?
To import phone numbers for Hosted Messaging, perform the following steps:
- Log into the Bandwidth Dashboard.
- In the top navigation bar, click Numbers and select Hosted Services.
- Select Import Numbers.
- Type or paste the phone numbers you'd like to import and click Check Importability.
- If the Hosted Messaging for those numbers is available and you'd like to import them, click Start Importing.
- Enter the subscriber information and the service address.
- Select a Sub-Account and Location. You may also enter an optional Customer Order ID.
- Click Submit.
How do I remove phone numbers for Hosted Messaging?
To remove phone numbers for Hosted Messaging, perform the following steps:
- In the top navigation bar, click Numbers and select Hosted Services.
- Select Remove Imported Numbers.
- Type or paste the phone numbers you'd like to remove, enter the Customer Order ID (if you've selected one previously), and click Remove Numbers.
