Yes! Hosted Messaging is a service that allows Bandwidth customers to enable numbers that the customer doesn't own for voice. This product is designed to allow customers to send and receive SMS/MMS messages using the Bandwidth platform while leaving the voice service in place with the current carrier/service provider. More information can be found in this support article.

Which numbers are supported?

  • Non-wireless local numbers, if you're a CLEC and have your own US or Canadian landlines/VoIP numbers, or if you have a valid written authorization from the current CLEC number provider for voice services.
  • Toll-free numbers, if you're a RespOrg and have authorization from the business end-user to text-enable it, or if you're the end-user and have written authorization from the RespOrg to text-enable the number with Bandwidth.

Which numbers aren't supported?

  • Wireless numbers
