Does Bandwidth support international MMS messaging?

Julie Wilhelm

MMS is currently supported only for the US and Canada. Unlike SMS, the MMS protocols aren't globally standardized, making it more technically difficult for operators around the world to interoperate. Many of the world's largest wireless operators can't exchange MMS between their networks.

For example: Verizon and Vodafone don't support MMS across their networks in Spain. The challenges generally involve media transcoding and file size/type management, which vary from network to network.

Although Bandwidth continues to expand our reach and capabilities, with some new countries and operators supported outside of the US and Canada, overall we don't expect global MMS reach to ever mirror the ubiquity of global SMS reach.
