How do emergency notifications work?

Emergency notifications can improve emergency outcomes by alerting personnel to 911 calls, giving them an opportunity to assist first responders as they arrive on the scene and even provide life-saving assistance. They’re also an essential component of regulatory compliance for enterprises.

Kari’s Law, which came into effect on February 16, 2020, requires enterprises to alert designated parties when a 911 call is made. These notifications are typically sent to a security team, front desk attendant, or a facilities manager.

Bandwidth’s 911 solutions provide notifications in an email, text message, voice announcement, or webhook (HTTP callback) formats. These different notification types can be assigned uniquely for each endpoint record registered with Bandwidth.
