Mexico dial plan changes

Jack Reiland

Updated

In August 2019, Mexico changed their dial plan to conform with the international dialing standards. Based on these changes, all calls to mobile phones there no longer need to be dialed as 521 followed by the subscriber number. Instead, they must be dialed as 52 followed by the subscriber number.

If you’re impacted by this change, please update your current dialing plan(s) by August 3, 2020 to adhere to the standardized dialing requirements and ensure continued call completion. This will be strictly enforced by all carriers beginning on this date, so failure to comply could result in call failures.

Old dial plan from North America (United States or Canada):

  • 011 52 (1 if dialing to mobile phone) (phone number)

New dial plan from North America (United States or Canada):

  • 011 52 (local phone number only)
