How do I move phone numbers to a different Account?

If you have multiple Accounts configured in the Bandwidth Dashboard, you can move up to 5,000 phone numbers between them via a Move Phone Numbers order. This process is similar to moving numbers between Sub-accounts and Locations within the same Account, but please keep in mind that: 

  • The Accounts must belong to the same customer
  • The user must have access to both Accounts
  • The user has to have either Configuration or Line Features role enabled
  • Move Phone Numbers order can’t be used to move external numbers. Please continue to use the Import Numbers tab for that.

To move phone numbers to a different Account:

  1. Log into the Bandwidth Dashboard.
  2. In the top navigation bar, select Numbers and click My Numbers.
  3. Select the Move Numbers tab. 
  4. Under Phone Numbers, you can either enter the numbers manually or upload a CSV file with a list of them.
  5. Select your target Destination Account, Sub-account and Location.

  1. Click Move Numbers. A notification will appear at the top of the page with a View Order link.

  1. Click the View Order link to go to the Move TNs Order Details page where you’ll see all the standard order information. If the numbers have been moved from another Account, you’ll see it listed as the Source Account.

Where can I find my Move Numbers order?

There are several sections in the Bandwidth Dashboard where you can search for your Move Numbers order. Let’s go over each one of them:

  1. Log into the Bandwidth Dashboard.
  2. Navigate to the Search for an Order section on the right side of the home page.
  3. In the Order type drop-down, select Move tns.
  4. Fill out additional information and click Search.

  4. Click the order ID to learn more about it.

Can I move phone numbers via API?

Yes, you can move numbers and track those movements as an order using the /moveTns endpoint:

  1. Visit our Developer Docs.
  2. Select /Accounts.
  3. Scroll down and click /accounts /{accountId}/moveTns. 
  4. Click GET or POST to learn more.
